DEFINITION
RHB SPORT PU ALIPHATIC BINDER-1K is a solvent-free, moisture curing, one-component, transparent, UV resistant polyurethane binder. Designed for athletics and sports playground applications. It is based on high quality prepolymer and has excellent UV resistance and color stability.

APPLICATION AREAS

FEATURES
Due to the medium viscosity, RHB SPORT PU ALIPHATIC BINDER is easily mixed with EPDM granules and flow through the granules is minimized. Due to its special application area, RHB SPORT PU ALIPHATIC BINDER offers a long processing time, so that the joints can be easily adjusted for a considerably longer period of time. RHB SPORT PU ALIPHATIC BINDER shows good color stability. However, depending on the color of the EPDM, small color variations of the installed flexible layer may occur.

APPLICATION
RHB SPOR PU ALIPHATIC BINDER is a one-component material whose temperature must be between 15 and 25°C during application. The temperature of the application area must be at least 3°C above the current dew point temperature. For laying an EPDM layer, mix EPDM (grain size 1-3.5 mm) and RHB SPORT PU ALIPHATIC BINDER using a rotating compulsory mixer at a speed of approximately 300 rpm for 3-5 minutes. Make sure that the agitator reaches the sides and bottom areas of the mixing vessel. Apply the material with a trowel. To achieve good surface strength, the rubber granulate matting must be well compacted. Use a compaction roller if necessary. Special attention should be paid to construction joints (e.g. when changing the color of EPDM), which must be well troweled and compacted. Otherwise, defects may form which can later lead to cracks in the surface. If the recommended amount of RHB SPOR PU ALIPATIC BINDER is reduced, the mechanical properties will be reduced and the requirements of DIN V 18035-6 may not be met. The rubber granules must be dry as moisture will accelerate the hardening of the binder, making installation more difficult or even impossible and leading to an uneven surface and a poor mat. The working life and curing time of RHB SPORT PU ALIPHATIC BINDER are affected by ambient, material and surface temperature as well as humidity. At low temperatures and humidity, the reaction time results in longer pot life, recoating interval and open time. At the same time, viscosity increases, requiring increased mixing time and higher consumption. At high temperatures and humidity, the speed of the reaction increases and vice versa.

CLEANING
Reusable tools should be carefully cleaned with CLEANER or other suitable solvents (e.g. butyl acetate) before curing takes place. Never use water or alcohol solvents as cleaners on uncured materials.

INFRASTRUCTURE REQUIREMENTS
RHB SPORTS PU ALIPHATIC BINDER is normally used as a conditionally UV-resistant binder for the installation of an EPDM layer on a shock pad assembled in situ. The temperature of the application area must be at least 3°C above the current dew point temperature

PACKAGING
RHB SPORTS PU ALIPHATIC BINDER supplied in 20 kg plastic buckets or 215 kg metal drums

STORAGE
Store in the original sealed packaging, in dry conditions, at a temperature range of 5-25°C. Do not expose the packaging to direct sunlight. Before use, check the "Use by" date on the bucket/barrel.
